Facebook Debuts New Features

Shares of Facebook were barely higher Wednesday after media reports said the social networking giant launched three new features which are designed to help elected officials connect more easily with their US constituents and vice-versa. One of the new offerings consists of “Constituent Badges,” a feature that will identify a user as living in an elected official’s district if the user interacts with material shared by the local official.

The company also launched “District Targeting,” which allows elected officials to select certain posts to only appear in the news feeds of individuals who are likely to be their constituents. The third new feature consists of “Constituent Insights,” which enables officials and other users to find popular local news stories in their district.
